Programme of exchange of thoughts with expatriate Assamese held in DHSK College, Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: "The present age is the age of science and technology. Science and technology has changed our whole lifestyle and in this situation our new generation is in a state of confusion and there is a lack of proper guidance to them," said distinguished litterateur and former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Dr. Nagen Saikia in a programme of exchange of thoughts which was organized by the Dibrugarh Xahitya Xabha, Snehabandhan- an organization established to unite the expatriate Assamese from various corners of the world, North Kamrup College and IQAC of DHSK College, Dibrugarh recently.

In the online programme titled 'Asomor Naba Prajanma: Bortoman aru Bhabishyat', Dr. Saikia said that this was the right moment when the Assamese people spread over different parts of the world must come forward for the development of the new generation.

Dr Siddhartha Sarmah, distinguished medical professional and a resident of Australia, said that Assam was simply not a state nor India was just a country for him, Assam or India was his ideal and culture. He further said that in today's society, the important thing was how rich the poor were rather than the level of richness of a rich person. If this feeling got its proper place then only, Assam could climb the heights of development. Professor of the University of Georgia, Aruni Kashyap spoke on the prospects of higher studies for the Assamese youth and he expressed his willingness to help the Assamese youth.

Secretary-in charge, Dibrugarh Xahitya Xabha, Ratul Buragohain stated the objectives of the programme. Manjira Choudhury, resident of Leicester, Great Britain, Professor of Leicester College and president of Snehabandhan and Axam Xahitya Xabha, UK Chapter, inaugurated the programme. She said, "Our love for our language can only strengthen our society." She said that in England, Hebrew people drive for hours to take their children to a Hebrew teacher for Hebrew language learning which was rare in case of other races.

Principal of DHSK College, president of Dibrugarh Xahitya Xabha and secretary Snehabandhan, Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia and Professor North Kamrup College, Dr. Kabita Goswami chaired the programme. Resident of Glasgow, environmentalist and vice-president of Snehabandhan, Nirala Baruah stressed vocational education and training for the new generation of Assam. Distinguished professor from America, Bharat Boruah stated the references of Assam, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and New York city while mentioning about the impact of libraries on society.

A researcher and professor from Sri Lanka, Dr. Gitanjali Goswami expressed her views regarding how to bring forward the youth. Distinguished scientist from South Africa, Dr. Mukut Gohain stressed development through study and suggested for taking the support of books to make the society free of any misconduct. Senior Marketing Technologist Diganta Malakar mentioned how the Assamese youth could establish themselves through online digital marketing. Other distinguished persons also spoke on various aspects of the theme.
