Programme to mark Yoga Day countdown held at Digboi

TINSUKIA: Rameswar Teli, Union Minister of State for Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour & Employment attended the countdown to International Yoga Day at Campus Ground, Digboi on Tuesday. On the occasion Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas also delivered a message via webcasting, applauding the initiative of IOCL. The yoga sessions were organised in 47 other locations such as refineries, petrochemical complexes, bottling plants, offshore assets and building projects spread across the country and overseas. The Yoga Guru Sukumoni Nath instructed the yoga asana to all the officials, staff and students from the Assam Oil School of Nursing, Digboi.

Another public programme was also organized at Paragdhar Chaliha Auditorium, Digboi commemorating the 75years of India's Independence and as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav where 75 imminent citizens from the Digboi Town were felicitated by the IOCL, Digboi. The citizens from different walks of life were felicitated with a Gamusa, a citation and a cheque of Rs.10,000 each weer presented to them. Rameswar Teli, congratulated the feted citizens and shared his vision of the development in the region. Teli also reckoned that the Digboi Refinery is the oldest operating refinery in the world and expansion of the oil sector is very pertinent to the growth of the sector. He shared that the government is working relentlessly on breakthrough technology to become a self-sustaining nation in the oil sector. Suren Phukan. MLA of Digboi also spoke on the occasion and extended his gratitude to the public and the organizers.

Palash Rajkumar Ahom, ADC i/c, Margherita, Runal Nath, Circle Officer, Margherita, K.K Sarma, CGM & Refinery Head, IOCL, Digboi, ward members of Digboi & Makum Municipal Boards, media personnel, administrative officials and staff of IOCL and the local public attended both the events.
