UDALGURI: To mark the 75th Independence Day, the 23rd battalion SSB Lalpool organized various programmes to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The SSB organized sports and other events from August 10 at its campus and field companies along the Indo-Bhutan border. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav started a football game on the first day. Yoga was organized the second day. The force personnel, families and children of the personnel also registered their presence with great enthusiasm. The programme concluded with a 10 km mini marathon.

Rohitashwa, the Commandant of 23rd Bn SSB Lalpool, said that organizing sports competitions at the unit increased confidence among the personnel. A cycle rally will also be organized by Frontier Headquarter SSB Tezpur which will start from Tezpur on August 25 and will end on October 2 at Rajghat, New Delhi. Participants from each unit and SHQ under Frontier Tezpur will participate in the rally to make it a success.

BAKSA: The 64th Bn Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Howly organized Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 as part of Independence Day celebration under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. During this programme, pledge was taken by all the jawans under Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 to keep themselves fit and healthy and the national anthem was sung with enthusiasm by all the jawans. A 3.2 km run was also organized under Fit India Freedom Run in which all the jawans, subordinate officers and officers of Battalion Headquarters actively participated.

Nand Kishore Tamta, Commandant of 64th Bn, said that organizing the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 was part of the campaign to generate awareness among the troops and their families as well as the people of the border areas about physical exercise for good health.

BARPETA: The SSB 27 Bn organized a cyclothon on Friday with a view to promote the Government of India's ambitious initiative 'Fit India' under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Participation of officers of all ranks with Brass Band display made it more meaningful as the local public, especially youths, were inquisitive about the show. Some of them even joined the rally.

The rally started from 27 Bn headquarters to Bahabari to Main Market to Barpeta Road Railway station to Simlaguri Chowk to Gurudwara and back. The band team also paid tribute to the statue of the great warrior of Koch royal dynasty –Bir Chilarai- with a tribute song.

On reaching Simlaguri Chowk, the band team played popular patriotic songs on the request of public. In his brief speech to the gathering, the Commandant, Abhishek Anand, reminded them about the great works of the freedom fighters and leaders of the freedom struggle. He also addressed the troops and said that maintaining self fitness was important but inspiring others for fitness was more important.

GOLAGHAT: The troops of 142 Bn CRPF organized Fit India Freedom Run 2.0, an initiative by the Government of India which started from August 13 and will continue till October 2. The programme was flagged off by Bharat Kumar Vaishnav, Commandant of 142 Bn CRPF on Friday. The Commandant said that the nation was organizing Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 to commemorate 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. The 0.5 km run started from Battalion Headquarter, Jonaki Nagar, passing through College Road and Mission 03 Tiniali. Neraj Kumar Singh, Second-in- Command, Dhambir Kumar, Deputy Commandant, Jugal Kumar Sarma, Deputy Commandant, subordinate officers and jawans participated in this run.
