LAKHIMPUR: MLA of No.112 Dhakuakhana LAC and State P&RD Minister Naba Kumar Doley felicitated the meritorious students under his constituency who passed the Higher Secondary and High School Leaving Certificate exams this year with flying colours.
On this occasion, a programme in a befitting manner was organized in association with Dhakuakhana district unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Marcha, TMPK and some local voluntary organizations. It began with the lighting of ceremonial lamps by retired Principal Dr. Girin Gogoi and senior social activist Paramananda Doley. Retired vice-principal of Dhakuakhana College, Purnananda Gogoi chaired the programme wherein Vice-Chancellor of Madhavdev University, Dr. Dibakar Chandra Deka took part as chief guest.
“The progress of the students in the true sense can be evaluated through the multi-purpose education system. Their progress is possible through a flawless education system only,” Dr. Dibakar Chandra Deka said.
Associate professor Sewok Chandra Chutia delivered the welcome address while Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah was present as guest of honour. In his speech, the MP informed that MBBS course in Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital would start from 2021. Minister Naba Kumar Doley said that drastic changes had occurred in North Assam along with the State under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. “At present, visionary schemes have been chalked out and implemented in order to propel the progress of education, communication, health, agriculture and many other sectors of the State,” he added.
Dhakuakhana SDO Arindam Baruah and Subdivisional Police Officer Mohanlal Mina also spoke on the occasion. A total of 866 students, 577 of HSLC and 289 of HS, were given warm felicitation in the programme with a citation and a bundle of books. HS Science stream topper Bitupon Arandhora and Rakheepriya Baruah, who missed a rank only for one mark, were among the felicitated students.
