Golaghat: The District Magistrate of Golaghat, Dhiren Hazarika issued an order on Tuesday of the prohibition on the parking of all types of vehicles in the animal corridors of National Highway-37 of Kaziranga National Park (KNP).
In an office order No. GMJ.10/2006-11/74 dated December 3, 2019, the District Magistrate said that a letter No. KNP/FG.828/Central Empower Committee dated November 21, 2019 of the Director, Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, Bokakhat stated that parking of heavy good vehicles on the National Highway in the area of KNP was creating hindrance to the movement of wild animals in the animal corridors and also reported that washing of vehicles and dumping of garbage in the animal corridors was polluting the River Diffolo, resulting in deterioration of the environment of the park. The central empowerment committee in report No. 6 in WP (C) 2012/2019 submitted to the Supreme Court of India has recommended the prohibition of parking of all types of vehicles in the animal corridors of NH-37 of KNP.
District Magistrate Dhiren Hazarika declared the stretch from Borjuri to Bagori as No Parking Zone and prohibited parking of trucks, tankers, and trailers along both sides of the said stretch of National Highway-37 under section 144 CrPC. Notably, a prohibition order U/S 144 CrPC is already in force in the district of Golaghat for maintenance of peace and tranquillity and law and order.
