Prohibitory order issued in Podumini Dergaon area

GOLAGHAT: The Golaghat district administration promulgated a prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC on Saturday regarding movement of stray rhino in Podumoni and Dergaon areas of Golaghat district.

In the statement of DIPRO, Golaghat said that after receiving a letter from Divisional Forest Officer, Golaghat regarding movement of a stray rhino in the Podumoni-Derhaon area, it was observed that there was a large gathering of people in the said area which was creating hindrance for the forest officials to operate properly.

Whereas, there is sufficient ground for proceeding under Sec 144 CrPC for immediate prevention of danger to human life or safety and proper execution of the operation to guide the rhino away from the area.

Therefore, in exercise of the powers of section 144 CrPC, Additional District Magistrate, Golaghat promulgate the prohibitory order. According to the order, gathering of more than three persons in the Dergaon-Podumoni area and areas where forest officials are conducting operation to chase the rhino is not allowed. The order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain until the stray rhino is safely guided away from the area.
