LAKHIMPUR: As the number of COVID-19 active cases in Lakhimpur district has shown a sudden spike, the Lakhimpur district administration has put in place further restrictions on the movement of the people and other activities as well as imposed night curfew in the district to effectively break the chain of Coronavirus contagion.
The Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur-cum-District Magistrate, Khageswar Pegu has declared prohibitions on several issues. The order has been issued vide No. LMJ 22/2021/66 dated 04/05/2021 under 144 Criminal Procedure Code.
Through the order, the Deputy Commissioner has barred the movement of individuals from 6 pm to 5 am daily in the entire district, except personnel engaged in essential and emergency services. Further, according to the order, no shops and commercial units will be allowed to remain open after 2 pm on all days. No office, both government and private can function after 2 pm on all days except organizations rendering essential, emergency services, law enforcement services and election work.
Moreover, no meeting/gathering at any open or closed spaces will be allowed. For marriages, only religious part will be allowed with the presence of maximum of 20 persons. At all religious places, congregation of not more than five persons will be allowed at any time. Funeral, last rites related gatherings will not be more than 20 persons for each deceased.
This order has come into force across the district from May 5 and will remain in force until further order is served.
Earlier on Wednesday, the ASDMA (Assam State Disaster Management Authority) had issued consolidated and revised guidelines for all districts of the State for the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic.
