LAKHIMPUR: District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur has promulgated prohibitory orders under Sec 144 CrPC in the district with regard to smooth holding of the Combined Competitive (Prelim) Examination, 2022 being conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

The examination will be held on March 26 in the Lakhimpur district along with the rest of the State. The order is served to check the likelihood of any law-and-order situation due to large-scale gatherings of guardians, well-wishers of the candidates appearing in the said examination and the chances of the breach of peace and public tranquillity by miscreants and anti-social elements in and around the examination centres, which may further cause inconveniences to the candidates thereby disrupting the ongoing examination process.

Through the order issued vide No. MJ/217/2023-MAG-LKPR, dated 10/03/2023, the District Magistrate has prohibited the assembly of three or more persons within a radius of 100 metres around the examination centres during the hours of examination, except for the candidates, examiners and the staff on duty. Carrying of any weapon, explosives or any other dangerous substances within the radius of 100 metres around the examination centres, entry of any person, who has a criminal record or who is suspected of carrying out any anti-social activity, within the radius of 100 metres around the examination centres and the entry of any vehicles, other than that of the examiners, invigilators, officials and staff engaged in the examination, in the radius of 100 metres of the examination centres have also been prohibited through the same order.

On the other hand, by issuing another order vide No. MJ/217/2023-MAG-LKPR-DFA/14375 dated 20/03/2023, the District Magistrate has strictly prohibited the use of loudspeakers, public address systems, or any other sound-producing devices within the radius of 100 meters from the examination venues in order to ensure a peaceful and conducive environment for the candidates appearing in the said examination. The orders will remain in force until the completion of the examination. Any violation of this order will be prosecuted under relevant sections of law.

JAGIROAD: Morigaon District Magistrate Devashish Sharma on Wednesday promulgated Section 144 of the Penal Code in the entire district. This has been done on account of the forthcoming APSC examination to be conducted on March 26.

As per the directive, unauthorized persons shall not enter and make unnecessary noise within a radius of 50 metres of the examination centre in the district. Candidates shall not carry unauthorized suspicious objects, mobile phones, electronic equipment etc. to the examination centre. The order came into force immediately and will remain in force until the examination process is completed.
