Prophet Row: Ex-Assam Minister Registers FIR Against Nupur Sharma

According to reports, in that FIR, the former Assam minister has asked the police to book a case against the suspended BJP members under strict provisions of the IPC.

Guwahati: Ever since the suspended MLA Nupur Sharma's controversial remark came to the fore, several FIRs have been slapped on her.

Among the latest to register an FIR against her is Former Assam Minister Ataur Rahman Mazarbhuiya, who has registered the same at the Katigorah police station in Assam's Cachar district.

According to reports, in that FIR, the former Assam minister has asked the police to book a case against the suspended BJP members under strict provisions of the IPC.

Notably, many protests have taken place across India against the suspended leaders for the controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad.

In a bid to stop any untoward incident in the state, section 144 of the CrPC has been implemented in 4 districts, that includes 3 of the Barak Valley districts in Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj.

Nupur Sharma's remarks were made during a TV debate as an official spokesperson of the BJP, the saffron party distanced itself from the statements made by her stating that Sharma's statement doesn't reflect the party's views.

Numerous cases have been slapped on her and both Maharashtra and the Kolkata police have summoned her.
