Protest against killing of food vendor at Thana Chariali Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: The family members of slain fast food vendor Raj Kumar Mahato and activists of All Assam Hindu Yuba Parishad took out a protest funeral carrying his body at Thana Chariali Tinsukia on Wednesday and demanded stringent punishment against the accused, Sugriv Mahato.

According to report, Raj Kumar Mahato and Sugriv Mahato, both fast food vendors, had an altercation over parking of their trolleys in the busy Devipukuri Pachali on January 31. Following heated argument, Sugriv allegedly stabbed Raj Kumar, inflicting grievous injuries. The police stationed nearby immediately captured Sugriv while Raj Kumar was shifted to a private nursing home in Dibrugarh where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday. Hundreds of people, including a large number of women, joined the protest.
