LAKHIMPUR: The activists of National Students' Union (NSUI) on Friday rocked North Lakhimpur town with their protest, alleging comprehensive failure of the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the State with regard to resolving various crucial issues of State.

The Lakhimpur district unit of the organization staged 'Chatra Hunkar' (students' war bugle) in North Lakhimpur town and slammed both governments for their failure, especially, to control the growing unemployment problems in the State as well as of the country as per their poll promises. The protesters, led by Sabir Mustaqim, the former working president of Lakhimpur unit NSUI , took out a protest rally from the Rajiv Bhavan and proceeded towards the Deputy Commissioner's office. By installing barricades, North Lakhimpur police prevented the rally from proceeding near ASTC office premises where the protesters shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the State government. State NSUI president Krishanu Baruah, central committee general secretary and Assam NSUI in-charge Anushesh Sharmah, Lakhimpur district in-charge Dimbeswar Gupta took part in the protest programme.

Becoming vocal against the both governments, Krishanu Baruah stated that the BJP-led governments could not keep their poll promises to bring change as they declared.

"The State government has comprehensively failed to create situations to engage the lakhs of unemployed youths of the State in view of mitigating the burning unemployment problem. Forgetting the poll promises, the government is busy in securing vote banks to remain in power. Moreover, the government has moved to hand over the mati of the State to foreigners instead of securing the jati, mati and bheti," Krishanu Baruah said. Krishanu Baruah and Anushesh Sharmah declared that the organization will continue to fight against the BJP government at the Centre and in the State.
