PST/PET Tests from Sept 1 for Recruitment of 6,662 Constables in Assam Police

It could be mentioned here that the state Education and Health and Family Welfare Departments, too, have started new recruitment processes of late.

GUWAHATI: In a positive development, the Assam government would, reportedly, conduct Physical Standard Test(PST)s and Physical Eligibility Test(PET)s from September 1, 2021, to recruit 6,662 constables in the state police.

According to reports, the PSTs and PETs will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, the tests would be conducted in 15 districts including Biswanath, Jorhat, Dhemaji, Hailakandi, Darang, Dhubri, Hojai, and Kamrup(Metro). The candidates could download their admit cards from August 20 to appear in the recruiting process.

It could be mentioned here that the state Education and Health and Family Welfare Departments, too, have started new recruitment processes of late.

As per the BJP's last assembly election promise, the state government is learned to set the aim for giving appointments to 1 lakh unemployed youths.

After a long halt in the recruitment procedure within the Assam Police department due to the ongoing pandemic situation in the state, the Assam cabinet has finally decided to resume the recruitment.

Following a cabinet meeting led by the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the decision was finally taken to continue enlistment for Assam Police.

The recruitment process for the 15,000 vacancies in the Assam Police department will start from September 1. Also in the meeting, the decision to additionally establish five new Police Battalions with a total force of 6,270 personnel was taken to provide additional strength to maintain law and order in the state.

This information was shared by finance minister Ajanta Neog. Neog tweeted, "In a cabinet decision taken yesterday, 15,000 vacancies to be filled in @assampolice department under one lakh govt jobs initiative, Recruitment process to start from 1st Sept 2021. Five new Assam Police battalions to be raised, where 6,270 youths will be recruited."
