Public Accounts Committee reviews implementation of Assam government schemes

TEZPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Assam Legislative Assembly, headed by MLA Wajed Ali Chowdhury, on Wednesday reviewed the implementation of various schemes and projects in Sonitpur district.

The other members of the committee comprises of MLA Utpal Bora, Basanta Das, Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Bhabendra Nath Bharali, Govinda Chandra Basumatary, Hafiz Basir Ahmed, Kamalakshya Dey Purakhayasta and Karimuddin Barbhuiyan.

After arriving in Sonitpur on Wednesday morning, the PAC members visited several sites of scheme implementation under various Government departments such as Paddy Procurement Centre at Alisinga, functional schemes under PMKSY, Bhotpara Stadium, Asom Mala project, Martyrs Park at Dhekiajuli, Joymoti FPC at Puthimari, model Anganwadi Centres, Railway Overbridge at Rangapara, Balipara flood wall, PMAY cluster at Halleswar and others. The meeting was attended by Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rava, Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra, DDC Utpal Bora, ADCs Pankaj Nagbanshi, Dyotiva Bora, Raj Boruah, and other senior district administration officials and heads of various departments concerned.

In a review meeting held at the new Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office, the committee reviewed the physical and financial progress of works of the various schemes and urged the district administration officials to ensure good quality of work and timely completion of all government schemes being implemented in the district. The works related to PWD (Building), PWD (Roads), PHE, Water Resources, Social Welfare, Panchayat and Rural Development, Irrigation, Health and Family Welfare, Food and Civil Supplies, Forests, Agriculture were reviewed in the meeting on Wednesday.

JAMUGURIHAT: The 9-member team of Public Accounts Committee of the Assam Assembly led by Chairman Wajed Ali Chowdhury visited the construction work of several government schemes in Sootea development block under Sootea LAC obn Thursday. The committee chairman Wajed Ali Chowdhury said that the government funds have been used properly for the digging of ponds under the Amritsarovar scheme and the unemployed youths of the area will now be able to create self-employment through fish farming. The Public Accounts Committee of the Assam Legislative Assembly has also observed the work of Dhalaibil water supply scheme in Naduar development block of the constituency and the under construction cultural project of Barechahar Bhaona, Jamugurihat. The committee members were pleased with their observations of several government projects under the Sootea Development Block.
