Public hearing on death of suspected ULB militants

KOKRAJHAR: The district administration, Kokrajhar, through a public notice informed that the Divisional Commissioner of Lower Assam will hold a public hearing, views and receive written statements in connection with an inquiry into the death of two suspected United Liberation of Bodoland (ULB) militants on February 17 at 1pm in the conference hall of the circuit house, Kokrajhar.

It has appealed to all concerned, including students' organizations along with social organizations to appear before him and summit their statements regarding the incident.

It may be stated that following the death of two suspected ULB militants namely Janak Brahma and Jwngsar Mushahary in an encounter with the police at Ultapani forest reserve on September 18, 2021 and which evoked widespread public protest, the Assam government had ordered Jayant Narlikar, Divisional Commissioner of Lower Assam to inquire into the circumstances leading to the death of these two suspected militants.
