Public meeting held to discuss orphanage molestation incident in Sivasagar

Joysagar: A public meeting was held in Sivasagar Rangpurjyoti Club on Sunday to discuss the alleged molestation of the inmates of an orphanage in Joysagar by high-level officials of the orphanage. The shameful incident came to light recently. The meeting was called by the Sivasagar Aikya Sena where Sivasagar Sangrami Yuba Chatra Parishad, Sivasagar KMSS, Sivasagar ATASU, Sivasagar Mahila Samiti, Sivasagar Bengali Yuba Federation and many other social organizations took part.

Farid Islam of Aikya Sena said that the people of Sivasagar sought an impartial enquiry and arrest of the accused involved in the alleged crime. The leaders of the other organizations and also members of women bodies condemned the incident.

Meanwhile the Sivasagar Executive Magistrate, following the direction of the Sivasagar DC, has restricted the accused from entering the orphanage premises and said that as the case was under trial and investigation was on, the accused persons had been prohibited from entering the orphanage. Besides, the Sivasagar Police are monitoring the whole situation and also providing sufficient security measures to the orphanage where other inmates are still there. The Sivasagar administration has also appealed to people to extend their help in maintaining peace and law and order in the district. The Sivasagar administration also said that there was no political interference and those found guilty with sufficient evidence would be arrested soon.
