Public Outrage Breaks Out In Digboi's Bogapani After Eviction Drive At Historical 'Dangoria Baba Than'

Tinsukia: In a bid to pave way for the upcoming four-lane project in Upper Assam, an eviction drive was carried out by the Tinsukia Administration on 31s December to clear the historical Dangoria Baba Than (Temple) in Bogapani area in Digboi.

The situation deteriorated after a road blockade was staged by hundreds of protestors for several hours at the National Highway 38.

A few of them even demanded to immediately stop the ongoing eviction drive and also gathered outside the Dangoria Baba Than temple.

The agitated protestors chanted anti-government slogans and claimed that they were not ready to concede their stance of not allowing any kind of eviction drives at the premises of the temple.

According to reports, the Tinsukia Police informed that tight security has been deployed in Bogapani and its adjacent areas as a result of the eruption of the chaotic situation.

The police are yet to comment on this matter and their response, if any, remains to be seen.

The Government of Assam has vowed to improve the infrastructure of the state and has undertaken several developmental projects and continuously monitors those projects so as to make sure that it is completed without any unnecessary delays.

Several projects have been completed in the state so far, the most notable of them being the completion of the Bogibeel Bridge in 2018 which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
