TINSUKIA: The Congress MLA of Doomdooma, Durga Bhumij, while expressing apprehension on pressure tactics adopted by the ruling party workers in respect of tendering of PWD jobs, lodged a complaint to the Commissioner of PWD Assam seeking his intervention.
In his letter vide no DDM-LAC/137/2019-20 of February 3, Durga Bhumij stated that the PWD flouted tender for some development works under the PMGSY scheme in his constituency. Though some contractors participated in a competitive rate, they were allegedly pressurized by some ruling government party workers and their associates to withdraw from the competition, enabling them to avail allotment of works against their favourable contractors at a higher rate without competition. The MLA has sought necessary action and desired that no one should withdraw the tender after participating in the competition of tender in the Chief Engineer’s office.
