Ragging at Silchar Dental College reported

A fresher was allegedly mistreated by a group of senior students which amounted to ragging. Magistrate Kishan Charai had made an on spot inspection in the Dental College

SILCHAR: Amid much hullabaloo over the ragging of a fresher in Dibrugarh University recently, a similar incident in Silchar Dental College has been reported. Dr. Manjula Das, principal of the Dental College under Silchar Medical College and Hospital had admitted that an incident of ragging had happened. A fresher was allegedly mistreated by a group of senior students which amounted to ragging. Magistrate Kishan Charai had made an on spot inspection in the Dental College on Friday. He had recorded the statements of the accused students in the presence of the principal. Meanwhile, Dr Das had informed the magistrate that she had already asked the anti ragging squad of the college to investigate the incident. Sources said, some of the accused students had denied harassing the first year incumbent.
