Rameswar Teli laid stress on development of roads during DISHA meeting

TINSUKIA: Rameswar Teli, Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Labour & Employment and MP Dibrugarh Lok Sabha, chaired a crucial meeting of District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the Tinsukia DC's conference hall on Friday. He reviewed the ongoing development schemes like PMGSY, SOPD, RIDF etc.

Stressing importance to the development of roads, Teli asked the members present to expedite the works adhering to the guidelines and rules. The meeting was attended by Minister Sanjoy Kishan who is also MLA of Tinsukia, Bhaskar Sharma and Punakon Baruah, MLAs of Margherita and Chabua respectively. Out of six municipal boards in Tinsukia district, only the chairman from Tinsukia Municipal Board, Jayanta Baruah attended the meeting, besides chairman of Zilla Parishad and few members from Anchalik Panchayat, according to DIPR press release.

Intriguingly, most of the elected members were absent from the meeting. The DISHA was launched by the Central Government with the primary objective of ensuring better coordination among all the elected representatives of the district. Surprisingly in the meeting, Digboi MLA Suren Phukan, Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala, Sadiya MLA Bolin Chetia, besides chairmen of five municipalities- Makum, Digboi, Margherita, Doomdooma and Chapakhowa (Sadiya) were conspicuously abstained all though invitation letters reportedly sent to them from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia, according to an official source.
