Tezpur: General Observer Pabitra Mandal on Saturday held a meeting with all the micro-observers appointed for the upcoming by-elections to Rangapara LAC and briefed them about their roles and responsibilities in a meeting held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The micro observers were apprised about the nature of duties they have to carry out on the polling day such as ensuring preparations before the start of poll, carrying out mock poll on polling day, replacement of EVMs/VVPATs in case of malfunction, among others.
He also visited the strong room being set up at DRDA office campus and reviewed the undergoing civil works.
Later in the day, the General Observer visited 17 vulnerable polling stations under 74- Rangapara LAC and reviewed the availability of facilities such as water and sanitation facility, proper ramp for PWD voters and electrification. He also met the BLOs in the area and inquired about the number of voters and number of PWD voters under the polling stations. He also instructed the Sector Officers to ensure availability of all required facilities and sought their active participation in conducting free and fair election.
