RANGIA: Rangia Police, headed by OC Anil Maran, apprehended 10 drug peddlers within three days. Huge quantity of suspected brown sugar, syringes and filled containers as well as a vehicle were seized by the police.According to OC Anil Maran, based on specific information, a vehicle bearing registration number AS01EB 2752 was intercepted at NH-31 near Balagaon on Thursday night and during search operation, 103.93 gm suspected brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakh was recovered from the vehicle in a polythene packet. The police apprehended Ashikar Rahman, son of Harej Ali of village Kanikuchi near Rangia and Md Alom Ali, son of Gamir Ali of village Koriara Rangia, and also seized the vehicle.
Police also arrested another eight peddlers within three days. They are Rekib Ali, Bapukan Ali, Ranjit Kalita, Bahar Ali, Abdul Ali, Raju Das, Tultul Ali and Ratul Ali. Syringes and plastic containers filled with drugs were also recovered from their possession during the operation.
