Rangia Police seized huge cache of drugs

RANGIA: A most-wanted notorious drug mafia, Bidyut Dey alias Biplab of Lakhmipur near Silchar, sustained severe bullet injury in an encounter with the Rangia Police on Monday. Kamrup SP Hitesh Ch Roy, acting on a tip-off, along with Rangia Police headed by OC Bhaskar Malla Patowary intercepted one four wheeler bearing No AS 01 BN 2633 and recovered 646 gms of Heroin worth Rs 3.50 crores.

Police detained Bidyut Dey alias Biplob and most wanted drug mafia Jinku Das. When Biplob tried to flee away snatching one service pistol from Constable Atiqul Haque, Police open fired two rounds for self-defence and injured the drug mafia. He was admitted to GMCH for better treatment. The peddlers were coming from Mizoram via Silchar to Guwahati. But when police followed them they were compelled to move towards Rangia. Police stopped their vehicle by blocking NH 31 at Bangalikuchi. The drug peddlers carried the huge quantities of drugs in 40 soap cases on the chassis and pipe fitted under the vehicle, police said. Police is interrogating the other peddler at Rangia Police Station.
