Boko: A 16-year old girl was allegedly raped by Saddam Hussain at Batiamari village under Chamaria Police Outpost in Kamrup district. Later, villagers came to know about the incident and they tried to settle the case by holding a public meeting with the help of some ‘dewani’ (middleman). The victim was captivated in the house of the accused. Later, Child Welfare Committee got this information and with the help of police, recovered the girl. On Monday, two ‘dewani’ (middlemen) were arrested and sent to jail and on Tuesday, police arrested the main accused, Saddam Hussain and sent him to jail.
Imrawell Daimary, in-charge of the Chamaria Police Outpost, said, “The incident took place on July 18, 2019. After we got the information, we launched operation against the accused and dewani. We arrested them and sent them to jail. Some other culprits are absconded, but police will arrest them very soon.”
“Cases under CWC 854/19 under section 120B, 376 (I), 201, 506 IPC and under POCSO Act have been registered against them in Boko Police Station. The arrested middlemen are Habibur Rahman and Ajimuddin,” Daimary added.
