GOLAGHAT: Renowned educationist and former president of Golaghat District Sahitya Xabha, Ponaram Baruah passed away on Tuesday due to old-age ailment at the age of 89 in his own residence at Missonpatty of Golaghat town.
Ponaram Baruah had made a great contribution to the society of Golaghat. He was also a leading activist of the Assam Agitation. He was actively associated with various organizations. His death has been widely mourned by people of Golaghat and all the organizations of which he was a part. He leaves behind his wife, a son, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers.
