Dr Gyan Chandra Jain, a renowned Surgeon breathed his last at the age of 84 yrs on 5th January morning at Guwahati leaving a void amongst the Medical fraternity of Assam. A retired Professor of Surgery from Gauhati Medical College who was very popular among his students and has served relentlessly to the medical fraternity for more than 55 yrs ..
An ardent social worker attached to many organizations like Lions Clubs International, Digamber Jain Samaj, Shri Digamber Jain Parshwanath Aushadhalaya, Doctor's Guild, Association of Surgeons of Assam, Jain Doctors Federation to name a few. He had widely traveled throughout the World and within India,for attending & presenting Papers during International Surgeons Conferences as well as Conferences of Association of Surgeons of Assam.
He was a pioneer in organizing Health Check-up camps in many rural areas.
A great loss to the society but will continue to be with us in our hearts and through his eyes as they were donated through Shankerdev Netralaya after the demise...May the noble soul Rest in eternal Peace..Om Shanti.
