Retired Secy of Assam Legislative Assembly Mahendra Kumar Sarma Passes Away

He left behind his wife, daughter and son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, three grand children, and a host of relatives

Guwahati: Retired Secretary of the Assam Legislative Assembly Mahendra Kumar Sarma passed away on Wednesday, May 19.

Hailing from Pathsala in the Baksa district, Sarma rose to the prestigious rank of Secretary by dint of his hard work and sincerity.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, three grandchildren, and a host of relatives.

While working, he obtained a degree in Law from Barpeta Law College. Of his many initiatives, establishing a railway ticket counter for the first time within the premise of the Assam Legislative Assembly continues to help many even today.

Born in Natun Barala, near Pathsala in the Baksa district, he studied in Jalah High School and completed his graduation from St. Anthony's College, Shillong, from where he started his professional journey.

A voracious reader and an avid football follower, he was a large-hearted man and ever ready to help anyone unconditionally.
