TEZPUR: A meeting to review the flood preparedness of Sonitpur district was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of DC Bhupesh Chandra Das in the presence of nodal officers for the district appointed by ASDMA, Project Manager, Mukta Ram Deka and Pranjal Saikia in the presence of ADC, DDMA, Romy Baruah, circle officers, various HODs and other senior officials of the district administration.
The meeting discussed the preparedness for the upcoming flood situation, the status of deployment of SDRF/ NDRF, the status of life-saving equipment, setting up of COVID-19 protocol compliant Model Relief Camps, coordination of stakeholders among others.
The officials from ASDMA appraised the district administration about the latest SOP issued by ASDMA which stresses the need to find bigger spaces to set up relief camps to ensure social distancing between two inmates in view of the COVID situation. As per these guidelines, a space of 7 sq m per person is required to ensure the norm of 1 m social distancing. Moreover, drinking water provision of 30 litres per person per day, availability of toilets in a 1:30 ratio, regular sanitization, ensuring COVID appropriate behaviour in relief camps, and other important issues were also discussed.
The officials later visited a pre-identified relief camp under Tezpur Revenue Circle, Lutheran High School and took stock of the facilities in place. The team also visited Kariani-Nepali gaon and inspected the site where embankment protection works are going on. During their visit, they were accompanied by Circle Officer, Tezpur, Sanghamitra Baruah, CO (A) Ranadeep Chutia, DPO, DDMA, Partha Pratim Sarma, among others.
