TINSUKIA: Rich tributes were paid to veteran journalist, former president of Tinsukia District Journalists' Association (TDJA), recipient of journalists' pensioner and renowned poet Gokul Sarma who was bestowed upon the titled 'Dihingpuria Kabi' on the day of his adya shradha on Monday at his residence at No.1 Makum Pathar, Margherita.

Organized under the aegis of TDJA and in collaboration with various organizations of Margherita, the commemorative meet began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and offering floral tributes at the portrait of Gokul Sarma by his wife Anjali Sarma and other dignitaries.

The meeting chaired by the Head of the Department of Assamese of Margherita College, Dr. Ramen Hazarika, was addressed by senior journalist and former president of TDJA, Amulya Khataniar who spoke on Gokul Sarma's uncompromising personality and contribution. Tinsukia District Poets' Association president Dr. Ranjit Dutta and TDJA president Dr Rishi Das, poet Santanu Sarkar, Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha president Arjun Baruah, Gokul Sarma's son Monimugdha Sarma and several others spoke on various aspects of Gokul Sarma's life and works.

A commemorative book titled Dihingporia Kabi Gokul Sarma- Byakti Aaru Byaktitwa under the editorship of Dr Runjun Saikia and Lakhyadhar Sonowal, was formally released.
