'Ride of Pride' team given rousing welcome in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: A 9-member motorcycle team of 'Ride of Pride' led by Anand Mishra AIGP (Sports) of Assam Police celebrating the President Colour Award was given a rousing welcome after it reached Tinsukia on Tuesday from Dhubri-Dhemaji via Dibrugarh. Following a ceremonial programme at the office of the Superintendent of Police, the rally left for Sadiya. The President Colour Award is the highest honour being bestowed upon security forces in the country.

Addressing the euphoric police personnel at SP's office, Debojit Deuri SP of Tinsukia said, "It is a matter of pride and momentous occasion for all police personnel of the State and the recognition symbolises meritorious services of the State police force." The team members were felicitated by Tinsukia police. AIGP Mishra also spoke on the occasion. The award is an emblem to be worn by all police officers on the left-hand sleeve of the uniform who have completed 25 years of service, informed Deuri.

The Assam police will become the 10th state police force in the country to receive the 'Colour' from Amit Shah Union Minister on behalf of the President of India on May 10, the first recipient being the Uttar Pradesh police in 1952.
