Rise in COVID cases in rural areas of Dima Hasao causes concern

Increasing trend of COVID-19 infection in rural areas of Dima Hasao and among the children below 18 years has caused serious concern among the conscious citizens of the district.

HAFLONG: Increasing trend of COVID-19 infection in rural areas of Dima Hasao and among the children below 18 years has caused serious concern among the conscious citizens of the district. Places like Harangajao, Songpijang, Langting and Dittokchera have reported high number of cases considering the population. Though there has been repeated appeal from the administration to maintain COVID protocol, people sometimes are seen violating all rules. As there is no vaccine available for the children upto 17 years of age, COVID cases among children has become a serious concern. In Dima Hasao, more than 14 children have been infected till date. Health workers opined that guardians of children should be more cautious regarding COVID protocol.

Till Sunday, positive cases in Dima Hasao were 931 while 42 were detected on that day. Total 330 people have recovered with recovery rate 36.50 per cent. As on Monday, the total number of active cases is 572 out of which 482 are under home isolation and 76 in hospital. As per DDMA, the total death toll in Dima Hasao is three but four people of Dima Hasao died of COVID in Guwahati, thus, the number of death cases is seven.
