Road Cum Bridge Connecting Assam-Arunachal Pradesh Likely To Be Inaugurated Soon

According to reports, the construction works of the road began four years back and the contract was awarded to a Hyderabad based company.

Guwahati: The construction work of the new road cum overbridge connecting Gohpur, Assam with Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh has been completed in the stipulated time.

The 29 km long bridge has reduced the time of travel from Assam to Arunachal Pradesh to 20 minutes.

According to reports, the construction works of the road began four years back and the contract was awarded to a Hyderabad based company.

A length of 10 km of the new road falls in Assam and the remaining 19 km belongs to the neighbouring state.

The part of the road which falls in Assam ends in the Rajgarh area bordering Arunachal Pradesh.

Local people hoped that the new road would provide conveniences to the interstate travellers.

The new road is expected to be inaugurated by the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister soon.

An official of the construction company, on the other hand, said informed media that this road is a four-lane road and has been constructed under the Central government flagship scheme of connecting with all the states' Capitals by surface communications.

"It is a four-lane road. Its construction started four years back and was completed within the stipulated time" the official added.
