Roman Shynkarenko, CEO of agro insurance company interacts with farmers

Roman Shynkarenko, CEO of an Agro Insurance company based in Australia, on Tuesday visited the Darrang district to know the status of the PM Fasal Beema Yojana (PMFBY) and the challenges faced by the farmers in availing the benefits of insurance coverage.

MANGALDAI: Roman Shynkarenko, CEO of an Agro Insurance company based in Australia, on Tuesday visited the Darrang district to know the status of the PM Fasal Beema Yojana (PMFBY) and the challenges faced by the farmers in availing the benefits of insurance coverage.

He visited flood-hit Debananda GP under Sipajhar Agri Circle and Bandiya GP under Pub Rangamati Agri Circle and interacted with the farmers of the locality. Ideal farmers Gobinda Deka of Debananda, Meher Ali of Bandiya and others expressed satisfaction over the claims and settlement procedures in insurance scenario so far. They also placed pleas before the visiting CEO and other senior officials of the state agriculture department to cover vegetable farming under the insurance scheme. CEO Shynkarenko assured the farmers to solve their demand with discussions with the representatives of the World Bank and government of India.

Jyotish Chandra Nath, Joint Director of the State Agriculture Department, Bidyut Talukdar, District Agriculture Officer, Darrang, Dibakar Deka, Agri Sub Divisional Officer (Mangaldai) and others also accompanied Shynkarenko during his day-long visit to different places of Darrang.
