Rongjali Bwisagu Bidai Pwrbw celebrated in Kolkata

KOKRAJHAR: The first ever Rongjali Bwisagu Pwrbw celebration (Bohagi Bidai Utsov) was held on Saturday at Bodoland House in Kolkata of West Bengal with a two-day long colourful programme.

The Rongjali Bwisagu Pwrbw was organized by the department of Cultural Affairs of Government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in association with Kolkata Bodo Association (KBA).

As part of the programme of the first day, Bodoland Territorial Region Executive Member for Cultural Affairs, Daobaisa Boro hoisted the flag in the august presence of huge participants from different parts of the BTR districts as well West Bengal.

Kokrajhar East LAC MLA Lawrence Islary paid floral tribute to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former ABSU president, in front of the Bodoland House on the occasion. Various cultural troupes representing different communities including Bodo, Koch Rajbongshi, Rabha, Garo, Nepali, Assamese, Bengali, Santhali etc are participating to showcase their culture.

Noted actors from Assam, Jatin Bora, Nishita Goswami and Bengali film actor Prasenjit attended the cultural night in the event.

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) CEM Pramod Boro also attended as chief guest on the inaugural day of the Rongjali Bwisagu Bidai Pwrbw celebration.

An open discussion on the Rongjali Bwisagu Pwrbw celebration was also organized. BTC executive member Daobaisa Boro said the government of BTC has been celebrating the Rongjali Bwisagu Bidai Pwrbw in association with Kolkata Bodo community in Kolkata Bodoland House. He said that the celebration was witessing grand participation of various cultural troupes for Bodoland region and West Bengal.

MLA Islary said that it was a proud moment for the people of the Bodoland region as well West Bengal as Rongjali Bwisagu Bidai Pwrbw was being celebrated in Kolkata.
