Rs 80 lakh recovered from four passengers at Mohanbari Airport

Dibrugarh Police, in association with CISF, recovered more than Rs 80 lakh from the possession of four Delhi-bound passengers at Mohanbari Airport here on Wednesday.

DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh Police, in association with CISF, recovered more than Rs 80 lakh from the possession of four Delhi-bound passengers at Mohanbari Airport here on Wednesday.

The recovery of such a huge amount of money from the passengers from Arunachal Pradesh has created considerable sensation here. The passengers were later identified as Sanjay Kumar Swami, Ram Abatar Swami, Sajan Singh and Mohammed Jalal Uddin Talukdar. During interrogation, the arrested persons told police that they were engaged in business at Khunsha in Arunachal Pradesh and the recovered amount was part of their business share, which was given to them by their business partner, Bijay Sankar Agarwalla. The police informed that three arrested persons were businessmen while one was their employee. Out of the four arrested persons, two were from Rajasthan, one from Haryana and other from Karimganj in Assam. Meanwhile, the police seized their PAN and Aadhar cards.

According to police, the money packed in two cartons was traced by CISF during scanning of their belongings at the airport. The CISF immediately informed the police who rushed to the airport and arrested all four passengers who were reportedly going to board the Indigo -6E6772 to Delhi. Police have registered a case and investigation is on.
