Guwahati: Putting to rest all the speculations about the whereabouts of ULFA (I) leader Rupak Axom, United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah said that Axom, who is his nephew, is not dead. Baruah said Axom is a patient of Schizophrenia, which is a type of mental disorder, where people interpret reality abnormally. It affects the way a person thinks, feels and behaves.

Rupak Axom (Munna Baruah) has been missing since October 29 from the dense forest of Myanmar, one of the main bases of ULFA (I).

Baruah also mentioned that they have been searching for him from the last seven days. 26-years-old Rupak hails from the Jerai village of Chabua in Dibrugarh district. His father, Bimal Baruah is the elder brother of Paresh Baruah.

Rupak was serving as a junior engineer and working as an apprentice in Digboi Refinery before joining ULFA (I) in November 2018. Incidentally, he also went missing for a few days in 2018, without notifying Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) office. When his family members lodged two complaints in Digboi and Chabua police stations, the police found out that he fled to join the outfit led by his uncle, Paresh Baruah.
