Sahitya Akademi Young Writer's Award to Anjan Baskota in Udalguri

Anjan Baskota; a young and multilingual writer has been selected for the prestigious Sahitya Akademi’s Young Writer Award 2020 for his collection of essays ‘DRISTI’ in the Nepali language published in 2016.

UDALGURI: Anjan Baskota; a young and multilingual writer has been selected for the prestigious Sahitya Akademi's Young Writer Award 2020 for his collection of essays 'DRISTI' in the Nepali language published in 2016. Baskota who was born at Samar Dalani under Biswanath district in 1985 had done his schooling from Dakhin Nagsankar High School, higher secondary from Chatia HS School and graduated from T.H.B. College of Jamugurihat. Mr. Baskota, a master's degree holder of English literature and the Nepali literature is presently serving as an assistant teacher of Dakhin Nagsankar High School. He has many books to his credit. They include 'Nibarita Manabota Aaru Nibandha Bichitra' (Assamese, 2014), 'DristiNibandha Sangra' (Nepali, 2016), 'Patingar Ko Itihas' (Translation of poetry collection from Assamese to Nepali 2017), 'Atmanusandhan' (collection of Nepali poems, 2020). He has edited many important books so far. Notably, Anjan Baskota is the first person to receive the prestigious award of letters from Assam in Nepali literature. Anjan Baskota has started his literary career since his school days. He regularly writes for newspapers, journals and periodicals published from Assam and abroad. It is to be mentioned here that Sri Baskota was awarded with 'Kabi Bhakta Rai Smriti Sahitya Puraskar 2020' by a Siliguri based literary organization Kabi Bhakta Rai Smriti Mandap in the month of January last. Many organizations of Sootea, Jamugurihat, Biswanath have extended best wishes to him for his achievement. The award was declared in an executive meeting of the institution of letters held at New Delhi on March 12. Surya Prasad Adhikar, Nanda Hangkhim and Bijaya Bantawa were jury members of the selection committee.
