Dibrugarh: Twenty-three novelists, short-story writers and poets were honoured with the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar, 2019 at a glittering event held at DHSK College on Sunday.
Secretary of Sahitya Akademi, K. Sreenivasarao welcomed everyone to the event, and extended his commendation for all the winners. It was followed by an address by the chief guest for the event, Amaresh Datta, eminent English writer and scholar. In his speech, the 101-year-old Datta gave a detailed account of the nitty-gritty of creative writing. He also made a distinction between good poetry and bad poetry through mythological anecdotes.
The recipients were Sanjib Pol Deka (Assamese), Moumita Maiti (Bengali), Rujab Muchahary (Bodo), Sunil Kumar (Dogri), Tanuj Solanki (English), Ajay Soni (Gujarati), Anuj Lugun (Hindi), Shridhar Banavasi G.C. (Kannada), Sagar Nazir (Kashmir), Hemant Balkrishna Aiya (Konkani), Amit Kumar Pathak (Maithili), Anuja Akathoottu (Malayalam), Oinam Jiten Singh (Manipuri), Sushilkumar Shinde (Marathi), Karna Bahadur Chhetri (Nepali), Sisira Behera (Odia), Yadwinder Singh Sandhu (Punjabi), Keerti Parihar (Rajasthani), Yuvraj Bhattarai (Sanskrit), Guhiram Kisku (Santali), Sabarinathan (Tamil), Gaddam Mohanrao (Telegu) and Salman Abdus Samad (Urdu).
