Sainik School will bring revolution in education scenario of Barak Valley: MP Rajdeep Roy

SILCHAR: Union Ministry of Defence (MoD) had given approval for setting up a Sainik School in Cachar district, fulfilling a long-standing demand of this region.

Cachar is one of the 21 schools that had been approved by the ministry in first round. Cachar Deputy Commissioner Jalli Keerthi shared that it was based on the readiness of land and all application details that were submitted ahead of time. The objectives behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of setting up of 100 new Sainik Schools is to provide quality education to the students in tune with National Education Policy and give them better career opportunities, including joining the Armed Forces. It also gives an opportunity to the private sector to work hand-in-hand with the government towards nation building.

Assam Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu thanked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for the announcement and termed the decision as a blessing for the State. Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy said that it was welcome news for Silchar. "I am hopeful that the Sainik School will bring revolution in education scenario of Barak Valley."

Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said, "We were allotted in the first round as we had ready land allotted along with all paperwork that had been submitted ahead of time."
