SAKSHAM 2021 kicks off at Bongaigaon Refinery

DHUBRI: The observance of the month-long Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav (SAKSHAM-2021) from January 16 to February 15, 2021 under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG) and PCRA commenced at Bongaigaon Refinery with the inaugural programme held on January 16.

Chaired by CGM & Refinery Head, S P Baruah, the inaugural programme also consisted of administration of the Saksham pledge to all employees. The pledge to conserve petroleum products and to spread awareness among people to avoid unproductive and wasteful use of petroleum products was administered by CGM ( Project) KailashPati, CGM (Technical), DebajitGogoi, CGM (TS,HS&E) M MChetri in Hindi, Assamese and English language respectively.

On the occasion, a thought-provoking message on SAKSHAM from the chairman was read out by GM (ES &Insp) L D Bora. He shared the insights of the chairman on various green initiatives like investments in renewable energy sources, sale of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) through SATAT scheme with the brand name IndiGreen and production of biodiesel using Used Cooking Oil (UCO) as feedstock.

In his keynote address, CGM & Refinery Head, S P Baruah, stressed the importance of spreading the objective of Saksham in the real sense through holding of meaningful programmes and activities during the month-long celebrations and work towards influencing everyone to participate wholeheartedly. He shared the achievements of Bongaigaon Refinery in the field of energy conservation and the awards received by the Refinery. He stressed conservation and the efficient use of oil and gas to minimize dependency on import for meeting energy needs. He encouraged all BGRians to save energy and avoid interruptions in Refinery operations which would lead to monetary savings. He also urged that everyone should participate in the various activities being organized on SAKSHAM during the month so that the theme of SAKSHAM – 'Clean & Green Energy'- could be successfully achieved.

During the SAKSHAM- 2021 celebrations, various activities like online quiz, road shows, fixing of stickers, poster and banners, checking, tuning of vehicles, painting competition for school children, pledge taking by students and school staff, walkathon for BGR residents, quiz competition for the school students, CISF personnel, IOCL employees, group discussion by the committee members of oil and gas conservation, workshop on oil and gas conservation at nearby villages, essay and slogan competition for BGR employees will be organized for spreading the message to the target audience.
