PATHSALA: Keeping in view the various measures being taken by the government to control environment pollution, the Hindu Parisad urged the people of Assam to avoid bursting firecrackers as much as possible this Diwali.

Hemanta Talukdar, central president of Hindu Parisad, said during a press meet held at Pathsala, "This festival is all about lights, meeting friends and family, exchanging sweets with each other, etc. But crackers are also a prime part of this celebration which is extremely harmful to the environment during this time. With increasing air pollution, we must adopt a green Diwali celebration. Different cities in India are facing the brunt of increased air pollution and we must protect and preserve our motherland."

"I appeal to every district administration to look into the matter to stop the sale of fire firecrackers," Talukdar added.
