TEZPUR: Saraswati Puja was celebrated across the State on Saturday with great traditional fervour and enthusiasm. In historic Tezpur too, a number of schools, colleges and institutions celebrated the puja with great traditional fervour and fanfare. As Goddess Saraswati is believed to be the goddess of education and knowledge, most of the educational institutions observed the day in keeping up with the traditions.

The puja was organized in major colleges and academic institutions of Tezpur like LOKD Girls' College, Darrang College, Tezpur College, Tezpur Science Academy along with all the schools. The newly opened Delhi Public School branch in Tezpur also celebrated Saraswati Puja with great pomp and grandeur in the school premises.

The Principal of the school Madhusmita Bezbaruah said, "It's a great day for us today to have held the first celebration in the school and a matter of privilege to have been able to begin the school by paying our homage to Goddess Sarawasti. This is a temple of learning and seeking the blessings of the goddess of learning is very important before we begin our first session." She also said that the school starts its first session from April, 2022. Registrations are going on full swing for classes Nursery to VII. The spirit of celebrating Saraswati Puja, however, has been dampened by the pandemic and rainy weather. Devotees invoked divine blessings for improving learning skills. The students went to their respective educational institutions. Most girls were seen in the best of their attire, hopping from pandal to pandal, to pay their obeisance to Goddess Saraswati. Saraswati idols, brought to the school and college campuses were worshipped in the morning hours followed by the distribution of prasad.

DEMOW: Saraswati Puja was celebrated in Demow and its surrounding areas on Saturday. Devotees invoked divine blessings for improving learning skills. Students prayed to Goddess Saraswati and later young boys and girls came out on the streets. The students went to the educational institutions wearing colourful dresses. Though it was heavily raining from Friday night, the puja spirit was not dampened.

NALBARI: Despite COVID-19 protocols and unseasonably immense cold, Saraswati Puja was celebrated in the district on Saturday with great enthusiasm along with other parts of the State. Devotees thronged pandals seeking blessings from the goddess of learning. This year the Saraswati Puja tithi was from Saturday 06:42 am to Sunday 6:44am. Many schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the district decked up their pandals with bright and vibrant decorations to observe the occasion.

But some other schools, especially the elementary schools have just maintained the rituals and avoided all other extravaganzas. Institutions like MNC Balika Mahavidyalaya, Nalbari College, Kamrup College, Barbhag College, Govt. Gurdon HS School, PB Dhirdutta HS School, RNC HS School and other such educational institutions observed Saraswati Puja with pomp and gaiety.
