SILCHAR: The body of an SBI branch manager was found hanging in a mysterious position. The branch manager had been identified as Kuldeep Dasgupta, 30. He was the manager of SBI Kabuganj branch. He left behind his mother. From primary investigation by police, it seemed to be a case of suicide.
A Risk Focused Audit was going on in the branch for the last few days. Dasgupta was working late night. Family source said, Dasgupta, a resident of Silchar, used to stay in Kabuganj in a rented house occasionally. The source said, last night he did not return to his home in Silchar and on Saturday morning at around 7.45 am he spoke to his mother over phone and informed her that he would come to Silchar to pick up the auditor. On the other hand, local source said, Kuldeep stayed inside the office last night as he asked his colleagues to go to their homes. This morning the cleaner, guards and other staff arrived at the office as usual and found his body hanging. A rope was tied to his neck that hanged from the ceiling but strangely one of his leg was also tied.
Whether Kuldeep committed suicide or whether he was murdered, was not clear. Police was waiting for the post mortem report. However, police found that CCTV footage had been missing for quite some time.
