PATHSALA: At a time when environmental pollution has become a serious problem in the country, some school buses, including commercial vehicles like trucks, dumpers, buses, are emitting black smoke at Pathsala. Locals alleged that highly polluted vehicles emitting black smoke move freely in the area, which is very dangerous for public health.
A local said, “Pathsala town is known as Neem Nagari after many people planted Neem trees to control environmental pollution in the town. But here some schools use old vehicles for the students which cause environmental pollution in the town and it has become a serious problem.”
Another local said, “Today’s temperature in Pathsala is 37° C and humidity is 51%. Due to the black smoke coming out from buses, environment pollution is increasing day by day.”
“Except for seat belts and helmets, we have not seen officials checking the buses in Bajali. The Bajali police administration and the district transport official of Barpeta should look into this matter,” he added.
