GOLAGHAT: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma talked about some relaxations in COVID restrictions regarding opening of schools, colleges and public transport, while visiting Golaghat on Wednesday.
Talking to media persons, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Assam Government expected that schools, colleges and public transport would open from September 1. He said that the government was waiting for COVID positivity rate to decline to 500 cases per day. At present, the positivity rate was above 700 cases per day.
The Assam Government will be taking decision on starting physical classes for degree third year, post graduation final year and Class X from September 1.
Sarma appealed to students and teachers, professors and employees to take the COVID vaccine. Students also must take COVID vaccine, he said. The hostels will open for only those students who have been vaccinated. Within 15 day, teachers, professors and students should take COVID vaccine so that we can open schools and colleges, said the Chief Minister.
