Science exhibition held on the occasion of World Environment Day in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: Lotus Academy, a senior secondary school, Doomdooma observed World Environment Day by organizing an inter-school science exhibition on Sunday. More than 50 participants from Tinsukia, Dibrugarh and Sivasagar districts took part in the exhibition.

In the inaugural meeting, principal Manash Kumar De welcomed the guests and the participants. The programme began with the presentation of a group song composed for the occasion by a former student Uddipta Deka. It was followed by a dance drama depicting the ill effects of tree felling on the environment.

The exhibition was held thereafter. Dhiren Deka, senior journal and Secretary, Assam Science Society (ASS), Doomdooma Branch and Co- ordinator, ASS, Tinsukia District, inaugurated the exhibition.

The participants were divided into three groups classwise - intermediate (Class VI - VIII), Secondary(Class IX-X) and senior secondary (class XI - XII).

Vansikha Khemka, a student of class VI of Shiksha - the Gurukul, Hapjan bagged the first prize while Mercy Debbarma, Almas Lari and Dhani Moran, all students of Class VII, of St. Xavier's school, Rupaisiding and Surjyam Mittal, Nabhya Prasad, Nausaba Hussain of Guru Teg Bahadur Sr. Secondary school, Tinsukia bagged the second and third prizes respectively.
