Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting of KVK held in Sonitpur

TEZPUR: The Scientific Advisory Meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur was held under the chairmanship of Dr Prasanna Kumar Pathak, Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra in his address advised KVK, Sonitpur to work on fishery and other horticulture sectors for better livelihood of farmers of the Sonitpur district. He also appreciated the area expansion of litchi and publications published related to litchi. He advised KVK, Sonitpur to work in convergence mode.

Utpal Borah, DDC, Sonitpur, in his address advised KVK, Sonitpur to work on millets as this year has been declared as the International Year of Millets. Dr Ranen Barman, Associate Dean of College of Agriculture, BNCA, Dr Arifa Momtaz Begum, Junior Extension Specialist, AAU, Jorhat and Pankaj Saikia, DAO, Sonitpur also expressed their views for uplift of the farmers.

The meeting was attended by DVO, Soitpur, Dr BK Barman, DDM, NABARD, PK Nath, FMTTI representative and they gave their suggestions. The action taken report of the last SAC meeting was presented by Dr Roji Chutia, SMS (Agronomy). The progress report (2022-23) and action plan (2023-24) was presented by Angana Sarmah, in-charge Head of KVK, Sonitpur while vote of thanks was offered by Dr Ranjit Bordoloi, SMS (Fishery Science).
