DHUBRI: Dr. Sanat Saha, an eminent scientist of the country and an alumnus of Sishu Pathsala Higher Secondary School of Dhubri, felicitated the students who showed brilliant results in the HS final examination, result of which declared last week.
Dhubri is Dr. Saha’s native home town and he had completed his HS (Science) from this school in 1970. He was the chief guest of the felicitation programme held in the school’s auditorium on Wednesday.
Principal of the school, Debashis Saha while speaking on Dr. Saha’s educational and professional background, said that he had completed M.Sc in Agriculture Bio-Chemistry by securing first class second position in Allahabad University , and PhD in Soil Science and Natural Resource Management in 1980, post-doctoral research in soil with fellowship from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in 1982 and joined the fertilizer company PPCL.
Dr Saha, while addressing the function, epitomized the school as temple of learning and said that this was where the foundation of his career was laid and he never looked back. Though he had not fared well in the examination, it did not deter him from achieving his goal.
“I love to meet students, particularly of this school, and share my experience. Whenever there is a call from this school, I always respond. I was in Dhaka. I flew to Kolkata and then drove to Dhubri without any halt,” Dr Saha added. He advised the students to pursue their studies in their chosen fields and to be good citizens.
Students who were felicitated by Dr. Saha included Shabak Das, Sayan Paul, Isha Kundu, Sadman Sadique, Samragnee Paul and Taanaz Ali, Jainee Jain, Swati Shah and Moumita Nath. A philanthropist and teacher of the school, Dr. Saradindu Banerjee also spoke in the felicitation programme. The meeting was presided over by SMDC president, Pijus Kanti Dey.
