Scooties under Pragyan Bharati Scheme distributed in Dhemaji

LAKHIMPUR: The distribution of scooties among the girl students of Dhemaji district under Pragyan Bharati Scooty Scheme launched by the Government of Assam was ceremonially inaugurated by Labour and Tea Tribes Welfare Minister Sanjay Kishan on Thursday.

On this occasion, a ceremonial programme was organized at Moridhol College. Notably, the Government of Assam has launched the scheme for those girl students who pass their Higher Secondary exam by scoring at least 60 per cent or above marks. The main objective of launching this scheme is to support, appreciate and encourage the girl students with regard to pursuing higher education.

Attending the event as chief guest, minister Sanjay Kishan asked the girls to use the scooties judiciously and carefully. He also called upon them to go ahead to pursue higher education being inspired with this award. The minister said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would visit Dhemaji with a package of aspiring developmental projects on December 17.

"On that day, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the Dhemaji Medical College and Hospital along with the District Stadium. At present, implementation of various developmental schemes has brought drastic change to Dhemaji along with other parts of the State," Sanjay Kishan added

Taking part in the event as guest of honour, Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji, Asim Kumar Bhattacharya said that a total of 1244 students of the district had qualified for receiving the scooties as the award for their merit. He added that the scheme was the fruit of the goodwill of the Chief Minister towards the girl students so that they could mould themselves with high qualifications. Principal of Moridhol College, Dipen Saikia delivered the welcome address in the event. District Development Commissioner Arup Pathak also delivered a speech in the meeting wherein Dhemaji DIPRO Bikash Sarmah, Inspector of Schools Kabita Deka and Dhemaji district committee BJP president Prema Dutta were present along with the students and their teachers and guardians.
