KOKRAJHAR: The general secretary of Boro Women's Justice Forum (BWJF), Lila Basumatary has resigned from the organization after its president Dr Anjali Daimary joined the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) on August 24.
Basumatary told media persons that she was extremely hurt after she came to know that her president had joined the BPF. She said she was not informed about her plan to join the political party. She, however, said that she could not attend the meeting of the BWJF held a couple of days back due to her ill health in which, the publicity secretary said that Dr Anjali Daimary's plan to join active politics was confirmed. Basumatary further said she had nothing to say about Daimary joining the BPF but at least she should have informed her.
Basumatary said that Anjali Daimary approached the UPPL for ticket to contest in the BTC polls but the deal failed somehow, which could be the reason behind her move to join the BPF. She said it was her personal decision to join whichever party she wanted but it was also her duty to inform her decision to the secretary.
When asked if BWJF would face leadership crisis after the exit of Dr Anjali Daimary, Basumatary said there would not be any problem after Daimary's exit or after her resignation from the organization as the forum had filled the vacuum with many new faces and definitely new leaders would come up.
