Security Forces Recover and Detonate IED Safely in Tinsukia

The security personnel had detected it to be an IED hidden under the Makum Bypass flyover

TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia town of Assam almost came to a halt on the morning of Wednesday as a suspected bomb was discovered at a key location of the district.

Reports from the locality mentioned that an unidentified package was detected by the local people under the Makum Bypass Flyover located in Tinsukia and they informed the security forces.

Local police as well as army personnel soon arrived at the venue and verified it to be an Improvised Explosive Device weighing around 1 kilo in weight.

The security forces soon condoned off the areas and stopped all vehicular movement on the bypass as they took steps towards handling the situation. The bomb was then relocated to an open field with the utmost care by the members of the bomb disposal unit of the security forces, where it was successfully destroyed under controlled situations in the afternoon. This ensured that no one was harmed because of the bomb.

No details have however been known regarding the source or the improvised explosive device and no organisation or individual has laid claims on the incident. Meanwhile, the state police have already started an investigation regarding the incident.
